If you read my most recent post, you would know that I had a very tasty treat recipe coming today! And trust me when I say, this one isn’t healthy. IF you are looking for a healthy treat then I recommend trying my granola cookies, they are the perfect light snack. Nevertheless, onto this cheat meal. I was kindly approached by Dr Oetker looking for bloggers to promote their newest product – Bake In The Box. A cake which you make in the box that it comes in. Sounds unbelievable, right? But this is the perfect invention for us once a year bakers, who struggle at getting making anything taste delicious. And now that I am at University, baking becomes a thing of the past. You might be like, Lily you bake quite a bit? Have you read my recipes, they are SUPER easy. And that’s my kind of baking.
Bake In The Box Products
I was sent the range of cakes, they come in Double Chocolate, Banana & Chocolate and Lemon & Poppy Seed, the latter I have already indulged in. That is why it has not been photographed, and I did take a shoddy photo but it honestly isn’t blog-worthy. And I can say now it is delicious. What you get is the box which has the cake powder in. You pour this powder into the empty box and mix with the stated amount of milk until smooth. Then pop it in the oven for 10 minutes. You then take it out, score the top and pop it back in for 20 minutes. Mine cooked perfectly to the instructions, and it tasted and smelled heavenly!!
Overall, they are super easy and quick to make. I guess it can be quite scary not knowing what is in it as you aren’t putting the ingredients together yourself. And also, if you love the whole process of baking then this wouldn’t be for you. However, if you are someone who just loves the end result, then grab yourself a Bake In The Box. You don’t have to worry about having ingredients in the cupboard. You just need one box and some milk, and bobs your uncle you have a cake!
Lemon & Poppy Seed *
This was a very light cake. One that was great with a cup of tea. The flavour was very strong and I paired it with a Raspberry drizzle. This was just delicious. I would happily lie and make this for people and say I baked it because it was just so god damn good. I feel like this is one I definitely will repurchase and my housemates really loved it.
Double Chocolate *
I love chocolate, and this cake is double chocolate. Literally so rich and moist. The taste of this cake is just so delicious and I topped it with this white chocolate drizzle to make it, triple chocolate. I honestly loved the combination of this cake and the drizzle. I’m going to have to hide it from myself because it was just so damn tasty.
Banana & Chocolate *
Personally, I knew from the start this one wasn’t for me. I hate banana flavoured things, however, I love a banana – like the actual thing. I did try the cake, and it was delicious just had the general overpowering banana flavour. The chocolate chips in this cake were so soft and tasty and you had a good amount per slice. So if you love your banana treats this is the one for you. I drizzled on a cupcake cake filling and omg, this literally made it so sweet but added that extra something.
I’m so thankful for Dr Oetker for sending me these products, however now I’ve probably gained a few pound – oops.
