I’m going to say this now, this post won’t be festive. I’m not going to be relating this to Christmas, at all. So if you are here searching for some Christmas content, check out any of my other Blogmas posts.
I started ‘blogging’ January 2017. Yes nearly a year ago. And I started with the intention of being this amazing beauty blogger, creating amazing looks and reviewing luxury items.
And to be honest, it’s not been that crap. I have enjoyed writing some of the reviews, and I’m half decent with an average makeup look. But I just don’t find myself drawn to this style of content anymore. I find it a chore to have to do a makeup look for a blog post. And reviewing makeup products is pointless as I don’t buy that much and I like sticking to what I know will work. Also, I’m a student, I really can’t be going about spending money just to review something for my blog. Like fab, if that’s what you’re doing. But I can’t.
I don’t watch, read, or follow that many beauty creators. And really I never have. I just thought what else can I write about? My main hobby before blogging was gaming, it still is. And I uploaded 2 gaming videos to YouTube, but this is a completely different discussion. So I just thought, I’m crap with style, I like lipsticks and eyeshadow, so let’s write about makeup.
And I have to be honest before blogmas some of my best posts are my makeup ones. But it’s because I’ve not put much time and effort into the other areas of me, and expressed them with the world. And if you class skincare as beauty then yes you’ll still get a whole load of that. As surprisingly I’m very into skincare, like who doesn’t want glowing skin and to spend time pampering themselves with a facemask.
If I were to show you my YouTube history it would be these main areas: girl boss, self-development, organisation, fitness, vlogging and diet. Yeah, I might watch the odd glow-up or makeup tutorial, but that’s usually because I’m in desperate need of a look before going on a night out.
So after thinking about this for a while, I’m ditching beauty. I’ve even got business cards with beauty blogger on, what a fab bit of money wasted there. And this isn’t a goodbye, this is just me, being me.
You’ll see a dash of makeup and a bigger dash of skincare, trust me I’ll pop a review up and a routine here or there. But I want to experiment with what I’m enjoying now.
So this, Covet Luxe, will be fitness, my extreme struggle with trying to get fit and healthy. I want to document this and different areas around this. It’ll be about how to stay organised, how to improve yourself, how you can set goals and achieve them. I might talk about my fave books, shows, films, coffee shops. If I go away to a cute city then I’ll talk about that. There will also be some fashion (mainly just how I style a pair of Gymshark leggings), some skincare and some makeup.
So I’m going to say I’m a lifestyle blogger, for now. We will see over the coming months if this gears towards a fitness or a self-development niche. But I’m happy to finally put thoughts to blog post.
