Who doesn’t love a touch of highlight? It is the perfect way to pull a makeup look together. If you are going for a no makeup, makeup look, or full glam, highlighters are the one. I’m happy to have a few highlighter options, but really if I could I would have all the highlighters. Really, I’m not even sure what shade suits me, and you’ll be able to tell this from the different shades I own. You can get everything from an iridescent white to a gold highlighter. But not all of them will look right, as it can clash with your undertone and be too dark/light for your skin colour.
Benefit High Beam Highlighter
I got this in one of the Christmas gifts sets a couple years back. It is a small sample size of the real product. And I sometimes reach for this and absolutely love it. I’m just not 100% sold on the liquid highlighter thing. Nevertheless, the swatch of this is amazing! It is the top swatch closest to my wrist (1) and as you can see it is a very pinky shade which seems to work well with my skin tone.
NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette
I bought this palette purely for the contour shades. And I’m very glad I did. This shade is the 2nd swatch, can’t really see it can you? I’m very disappointed with this highlighter. However, if you like a very subtle highlight and also want some contour shades whilst you’re at it. Then go for this. But personally, I don’t ever reach for this shade.
MUA Shimmer Highlight Powder | Radiant Cashmere
This is a slightly more in your face subtle highlighter than the previous. I like using this as a quick everyday wearer. However, it doesn’t seem to stay around for long. It has a very warm under tone to it, which I kinda like but then I kinda don’t. This shade is the 3rd swatch in from my wrist.
Makeup Obsession Highlighter | H106 Gold
This is a very bling bling gold highlighter. Which I’m not mad at. This shade is the 4th swatch. This is the perfect highlighter when you are going for a bronzed look. It can also be worn as an eyeshadow to create a lovely gold eye look. This highlighter also has crazy pigmentation and it’s super affordable. Therefore making me want to buy more from this brand.
Sleek Highlighters Palette | Solstice
This palette has been one of my favourites for a long time. I usually gravitate to the ones on the right just because they are so easy to apply and blend (5,6 swatches). However, this post has made me realise how beautiful that top left shade is (7th swatch to my wrist)! I didn’t realise how in your face it could be. It definitely is being applied during freshers week!
I’m currently lusting over Barry M liquid chrome highlighter drops, Fenty highlighters, and BECCA champagne pop. But honestly, my purse would not be impressed if I went on a highlighter shopping spree.
