Winter Skincare Haul | Complete Revamp

Winter Skincare Haul | Complete Revamp

I recently revamped my whole skincare routine, every item is a new one. And I did this because in winter, the air is cold and my skin gets extremely dry and dehydrated. This makes my combination skin turn into dry skin ~ which is not what I want. And honestly, I’ve never done a whole revamp of my skincare. So a winter skincare haul was necessary. What I was focusing on when I was searching for hydration, spot targeting, reduce dry patches, semi-affordable. And I understand skincare isn’t just all about the products you put on your face, it is also done to food and water intake. Which admittedly I’m pretty shoddy with, I don’t drink enough water and I’m a student so quick food is my fave. But anyway, if I can make my skincare ace then that’s better than nothing, right?

Winter Skincare _ Kiehls

Kiehl’s

Midnight Recovery Concentrate | £38.00

After months, maybe even a year or two coveting after this product, I thought I’d treat myself to it. And trust me, right now it isn’t disappointing. It’s a face oil which is excellent for hydrating the skin, and the main ingredients are evening primrose, lavender essential oil and squalene.

Winter Skincare _ Origins

Origins

Checks and Balances™ Frothy Face Wash | £16.50

So I’ve used this product before in sample sized and loved it. The foaming effect is great and it does clean my skin. And after seeing my fave YouTuber Sarah’s Day routine using this I thought yup gotta buy the full size. It is also really good for balancing skin and it’s good for all skin types!

Winter Skincare _ The Ordinary

The Ordinary

So after everyone hyping this brand, I thought I’d try them out. I really don’t know much and I’m probably doubling up on products that have the same use, but so far they are all doing a fab job. So enjoy my very brief description of what they do, and maybe you’ll be encouraged to buy one?

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution | £4.20

This is great for exfoliating skin (as it’s an acid) and intends to improve clarity with regular use.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% | £5.00

This is supposedly amazing at reducing spots and skin congestion. You can apply it concentrated on spots or all over for preventing future breakouts.

100% Plant-Derived Squalane | £5.50

It is a plant-derived serum, oh look another serum? It is apparently amazing at hydration and can prevent loss of hydration with continued use. Can also be applied to hair for heat damage and reduce breakage.

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% | £8.90

It is described as a vitamin C serum, which is great for brightening.

Winter Skincare _ The Body Shop

The Body Shop

Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser | £16.00

I was searching for a good moisturiser, this was one that kept standing out. I know Vit C is amazing for hydration, and the fact it literally has glow in the name drew me in. It also is one of TBS best sellers, so if loads of people love it ~ surely it’s working. If you’re looking for a nice hydrating moisturiser that sinks it very quickly, this is the one.

Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel | £18.00

As of now, I’m not enjoying this. The lady in the store sold it to me like it sounded amazing. I get home and it peels stuff off, but they stay stuck to my face in tiny little balls that I have to rip off. I’m scrubbing my face exactly as it says but it just isn’t working. So don’t expect this in my routine post…

So if you are considering revamping your skincare for this winter time, I hope this helped! Also, you should expect a routine up soon, showing how I use all of these and the what I order I do them in. If you have some winter skincare favourites please let me know in the comments below as I’m always looking for more skincare products to try.

I’m soo glad you got the midnight recovery oil, it is such a skin saviour for me! As for the vitamin C peel – I was never a fan of it, the drops of youth one isn’t so bad but the vitamin C and drops of light are a bit of an odd formula in my opinion and don’t really do a lot! I looove the vitamin C day cream though, it smells so good and you should also try the skin reviver as a primer next time it’s beaut!

Oo this is a real fancy skin care routine Lily! I love the sound of the products you use, especially the khiels face oil, I desperately need a product that will hydrate and moisturise my skin at night because I wake up with rarely dry skin xx

I have heard so much about that Kiehl’s product! Its almost very tempting now, and even worse because I work next to it. I love all the products you listed. Im still trying to find my proper routine and definitely going to be looking at these brands!

That Kiehl’s oil is speaking to me, but I’m trying so hard to budget and save money…dammit lol

I’ve just bought some of the glow revealing peel too. I haven’t used it yet but after the lady in the show showed it to me I thought I’d give it a go! I’ll have to see how I get on with it

  13. 23rd November 2017 / 11:51 am

My skincare routine at the minute is basically nonexistent, but I’m so tempted by The Ordinary because they’re so well priced if I forget to do it or if I don’t like the products, I won’t feel too guilty.. 🙊

  14. 23rd November 2017 / 9:38 pm

I really need to get a decent skincare routine going, I just tend to moisturise in the morning and then use micellar water to remove my makeup in the night and then moisturise again haha! I’ve heard so many great things about the Kiehl’s midnight oil but I’m not sure if I can justify the price especially as I have sensitive skin and the product may irritate it but I can always hope and wish!x

When it gets cold, my lips take a real hit. They are always so dry! I feel really lucky that my skin doesn’t get dry. When I was younger my mum used to put an oily cream with vitamin A in it on my face and my skin was always well protected outside! Looks like you’ve got a collection of great products already. Vitamin C is always good!

The Ordinary is a brand I Ann seeing more of recently. I wasn’t aware of how affordable it was though, I always thought it would be a more expensive brand! I would love to try some of their products, but I haven’t seen anything that I understand tbh! They all sound rather too in detail for me! Jade xo

Such a great skincare haul here! I do feel during winter you have to change it up a bit with it being a lot more colder. I’ve recently tried The Ordinary, I’ve added it to me night routine and it’s brilliant!

I hear so much about Khiels – i need to give this a go definitely! Body shop usually are great with their products its a shame you didn’t love the face mask peel. Ordinary is another brand i need to try.

The Origins face wash sounds amazing! I think I need to give it a go. I absolutely love The Ordinary products, the 100% Plant-Derived Squalane would probably be really good for my skin since it’s so dry :)x
